Technology Transfer and Commercialization

In 1958, Congress mandated the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to disseminate the greatest amount of information possible resulting from its research and development efforts to the public.

Forty-one years later, NASA's Commercial Technology Network, along with each NASA field center's Commercial Technology Office, is extending the reach of NASA technology into the everyday lives of the American public. The wide network of organizations focuses on transferring technology and provides a vast array of products and services geared to enhance and further the global competitiveness of U.S. industry.

The Commercial Technology Division at NASA Headquarters and the Commercial Technology Offices at each field center serve as gateways to accessing the cutting-edge research and technology available for transfer and commercial use. Each year, NASA Spinoff highlights this technology transfer.
